A Covenant With the People of Oklahoma
If you elect me to serve as your Governor, I make this promise to every citizen of Oklahoma.
This promise is not made to a political party.
It is not made to lobbyists.
It is not made to campaign donors.
It is not made to powerful special interests.
It is made to the people of Oklahoma.
If elected, I will devote every day to serving the people while faithfully upholding the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma.
I make these four promises.
Promise One
I Will Seek the Will of the People
Whenever practical and consistent with my constitutional responsibilities, I will seek the informed opinion of the people before making major decisions.
Through the People’s App, or any future secure electronic public participation platform that better serves the people, I will ask—not assume—what Oklahomans want.
I believe government works best when leaders listen before they lead.
The people should never have to wonder whether their Governor is listening.
Promise Two
I Will Never Stop Listening
Listening is much more than conducting surveys. I promise to stay connected to the people by:
- Using the People’s Table to openly share information and explain my decisions.
- Traveling throughout Oklahoma to meet with citizens in their own communities.
- Holding public meetings and town halls whenever practical.
- Remaining accessible through modern technology.
- Encouraging respectful conversations with people from every political party, every background, and every corner of our state.
A Governor should never become isolated inside the Capitol.
A Governor should spend as much time as possible among the people.
Promise Three
I Will Defend the Constitutional and Civil Rights of Every Oklahoman
I will faithfully defend the constitutional and civil rights of every Oklahoman.
Not only those who voted for me.
Not only those who agree with me.
Every Oklahoman.
The Constitution is not a political weapon.
It is a covenant between the people and their government.
It protects all of us equally.
As Governor, I will never use constitutional rights to divide people for political advantage.
I will work every day to protect those rights as my oath requires.
Promise Four
I Will Build a Government Where Corruption Cannot Thrive
Corruption grows wherever secrecy, unchecked power, and political self-interest are allowed to flourish.
My goal is not simply to expose corruption after it happens.
My goal is to build a government where corruption has fewer places to hide.
By combining the People’s App, the People’s Table, and the People’s Army, we will create a government built upon transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
When government listens to the people…
When government allows the people to see what it is doing…
When citizens help hold government accountable…
Corruption becomes far more difficult to survive.
I believe these principles reflect both the vision of America’s founders for a government accountable to the people and the servant leadership demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
The founders envisioned a government that answered to its citizens.
Jesus demonstrated that the greatest leaders are servants.
The Farmer Servant movement seeks to bring those timeless principles together in the way Oklahoma governs.
My Oath to Oklahoma
I cannot promise perfection.
I cannot promise every decision will be easy.
I cannot promise everyone will always agree with me.
But I can promise you this.
I will serve before I lead.
I will listen before I decide.
I will place the people before politics.
I will defend liberty before power.
I will fight for transparency.
I will fight corruption.
And I will never forget that the Governor’s Office does not belong to Robert Brooks.
It belongs to the people of Oklahoma.
That is my promise.
That is my oath.
That is the Farmer Servant movement.
It’s a WE thing, not a ME thing.
One Final Question
You’ve now read my promise.
You’ve seen how I intend to govern.
You’ve read my plans for giving the people a stronger voice through the People’s App, greater transparency through the People’s Table, and greater accountability through the People’s Army.
I’ve done my best to show you exactly who I am and exactly how I intend to serve.
Now I’ll let you decide whether I’ve earned your trust.
If you believe my platform is about returning government to the people instead of serving the political machine, then I’d like to ask you one final question.
Are you for the people… or for the political machine?
For generations, many Oklahomans have watched politics become increasingly divided while government has grown larger, more complicated, and less accountable.
If you believe it’s time to restore government to the people, I invite you to take the next step.
On the next page, you’ll complete a brief Political Values Assessment.
It isn’t about whether you’re a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or belong to any other political party.
It’s about something much more important.
It’s about discovering whether your vision for Oklahoma is more closely aligned with politics as usual—or with a government that places the people first.
When you finish, you’ll have the opportunity to join the Farmer Servant movement and help modernize Oklahoma government.
Because the future of Oklahoma shouldn’t be decided by political machines.
It should be decided by the people.
It’s a WE thing, not a ME thing.
